NOTE
Topics marked with an asterisk were designed for students already familiar with
the specified texts or who were prepared to acquaint themselves with them.
PROGRAMME
| There were five sessions during the day (three in the morning, two in the afternoon), each lasting an hour, covering all the topics listed above. Most of the sessions were fairly informal and conducted along the lines of a seminar. The History topics were conducted in a more formal style along the lines of a lecture. | ![]() |
There was also an evening session of one and a half hours when students either prepared extracts from Aristophanes Wasps or Aeschylus' Agamemnon for presentation on the last night of the course, or attended seminars on mythology and aspects of social or intellectual life in the Ancient World. On the final morning there was an evaluation of the drama presentations by Dr Ruth Hazell of the Open University. |

Students
were free between 1.30 to 4.00pm - time spent as they pleased either for wider
reading or for use of the outstanding recreational facilities of Repton School.
Additional tuition was available for students taking Beginner's Greek or Latin
and one of the highlights of the course was a performance of extracts of Greek
Drama by Actors of Dionysos.
